Day -20: Pair O' Socks Project

Hooray! The socks are complete and in the mail to afghans for Afghans. I'm hoping they will warm someone's feet and soul all winter long.

Day -3: Pair O' Socks Project

Yikes! It's August and I did not complete the socks I wanted to finish by the end of July. Here's progress on what I'm calling Day Negative Three. As of now, A4A is still accepting socks, so I will keep on knitting.

Day 13: Pair O' Socks Project

Because I'd like to quickly finish knitting these socks, this has become a goal-oriented project. Hey, if Chuck can bike Every Day In May. I can finish knitting these socks by the end of July. Right? We'll see.

I was originally knitting these socks for myself, but now I want to donate them to afghans for Afghans. We'll see.

Beth, stop blogging; it's time knit.

Socks and Scarf

At Bethany Beach I made a lot of progress on knitting projects.  I started a new pair of socks for me with Panda Cotton. I had two socks knit to the heel beginning, but I frogged sock B last night after realizing I had caston four fewer stitches than sock A.  After trying it on, I decided I really needed those four stitches for a comfortable fit.

I made good progress on my landscape scarf as well.  It is fun to work on, but I find that it takes a great deal of concentration for me. Luckily I have the simple socks on needles now for mindless knitting.

I also took a good look at the Mobeius scarf I made awhile back.  It would be nice if it were a bit wider, but I tried a few times and did not like the way it was looking.  I've decided to leave it the way it is and make my next wider.  The scarf drapes fine when it is wrapped twice around my head and I like the way it fits as a gaiter.  If it were wider it would work better when I pull it up over my ears.  Oh, well, next time.

Celebrate Socktoberfest 2007

I found Socktoberfest 2007 and count me in. It sounds like fun, huh? Besides it is just the excuse I need to buy yet another skein of sock yarn. I visited BunkyBoBo's shop on Etsy. The seller is new to Etsy and I met her through blogging. She is a great correspondent, fellow knitter and now new found friend. Her handdyed yarns look luscious; I'm eyeing up Pumpkin Patch and Basilisk. For socktoberfest it has gotta be Pumpkin Patch. don't you think?

Baby Socks

The baby socks are done. I think they turned out great and pair nicely with the simple hat. Not much else in knitting news, progress is slow on the Debbie Bliss jacket. It's alot of stockinette stitch with baby cashmerino on size 3 needles - a dream to work with, but it's taking me forever.

Yarn: Panda Cotton (55% bamboo, 24% cotton, 21% elastic nylon) color #0432 - 1 skein

Needles: US#1 dpn, gauge 7st/in

Mods: I CO fewer stitches than pattern suggested due to elastic in the yarn.

Back From Bethany

We had a wonderful family time at Bethany Beach in celebration of my parents' 50th wedding anniversary. The damper was that my father ended up being admitted to the hospital the Thursday night of our stay (June 21). He was showing signs of a mini stroke (TIA) and after a serious of tests that turned out to be the diagnoses. On a good note, he was discharged this morning, has no lasting damage and can resume normal activity.

As far as knitting is concerned, I got alot done there. I finished the Panda Cotton toe-up socks and the Simple Baby Hat from Debbie Bliss Baby Knits For Beginners. I'll be posting photos as soon as I can get rid of the error message on my new Nikon D50. Urgh!

Off, On and Frogged

Off the needles:
The Moebius scarf - it needs work! First of all, it's not a real moebius - mine has one and a half twists. Secondly, it needs to be blocked. It is alot more narrow than I want it to be and very long.

The toe-up-sock - this is a small sock to be used for my "adventsocken".

On the needles:
A thong (a gift for my sister-in-law), a pair of toe-up-socks for T., and a dishcloth for my SP10.

Frogged:
The toe-up socks for myself. I realized a did not have enough of the solid blue yarn (used above in the small sock), so I've decided to use that blue as toes and heels in combination with this yarn.
